In accordance with her constitutional authority under Article 32(3)(i)(dd) of the Namibian Constitution, Dr. Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah has appointed Frans Kapofi, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, to serve as Acting Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy.

President Ndaitwah previously assumed responsibility for the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy to ensure the continuity of leadership and ongoing public service delivery amid recent leadership changes. Under the constitutional framework, the President has the authority to assign or reassign ministerial duties as needed to ensure effective government functioning.
This appointment of Kapofi guarantees sustained leadership and coordination within a ministry vital to Namibia’s industrialization, mining, and energy development plans. It also provides a manageable process for selecting a permanent minister in due course. The President emphasized that government operations should continue with discipline, urgency, and accountability, in line with the principles guiding the 8th Administration and the priorities set out in the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6). She extended her best wishes to Hon. Kapofi in his new role and expressed full confidence in his ability to lead the ministry diligently and with integrity. The Presidency underscores that this move demonstrates a commitment to stability, continuity, and adherence to constitutional governance, ensuring all sectors of government remain focused on serving the people of Namibia.
